Overview  

THE ALL STEER SYSTEM SAVES TIME
AND IMPROVES PERFORMANCE

Because time is critically important to the performance of any snow removal operation, imagine the improvements you'd see if your plow truck were able to negotiate corners and maneuver around obstacles unlike any other. You could clear more snow, much faster. The ALL STEER system with its steering rear axle makes it possible.

The driver decides when to engage the system, chooses a steering mode, and flips a switch. The computerized system takes over, displays the selected mode on an indicator, and automatically calculates the correct wheel angles. The driver steers normally. To disengage the system when it is not needed, simply turn off the switch.

The entire system is speed limited and designed for fail-safe operation. It has been available on the MPT's big brother, the P-Series, for 5 years. Three separate system interlocks and self-diagnostic troubleshooting system are in place to enhance safety and reliability. Learning to drive the MPT is simple even for drivers with limited experience.

All Steer System Reduces Turning Radius by One-Third
When you need to maneuver around obstacles, out of a cul-de-sac along a winding country road or around a sharp corner, nothing comes close to matching the performance of the exclusive Oshkosh ALL STEER system. In addition to standard front wheel steering, the ALL STEER system offers 3 separate all-wheel steering modes.

Coordinated Steer Mode
This mode turns front and rear wheels in opposite direction to reduce the turning circles by up to 30%.

Crab Mode
Called the "crab walk," this mode turns the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels, allowing the MPT to move sideways for maximum low-speed plowing power or maneuverability around obstacles or into tight spots.

Joystick Mode
A joystick is also provided to allow independent steering of the front and rear axles for maximum versatility.


LEGENDARY ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE COMPONENTS
Superior durability come from the same road-proven transfer case as the larger P-Series, plus the Oshkosh steering drive axle with closed-wheel-end design and heat treated alloy axle shafts. The steering axle's adjustable tapered-roller trunnion bearings are engineered to easily handle the side loads encountered under severe snow-removal conditions.


ERGONOMICALLY-DESIGNED, EFFICIENT DASHBOARD

Easy-to-reach controls are logically located on an instrument panel that's easy to remove for repair or replacement of gauges. A convenient touch-pad gear selector (automatic transmission) is at the driver's fingertips. Side-window defrosters are integrated into the dash, and reset-type circuit breakers are easily accessed from a panel on the dash's right side.

STRONG SINGLE-CHANNEL FRAME

The solid, single-channel 12-3/8" frame with 110,000 psi yield strength and an RBM of 2,733,500 in. lbs. per rail has deep section cross-members secured to it, specifically to withstand the punishing side thrust of snow removal.

SMOOTHER RIDE, LESS COMPONENT STRAIN

The MPT-Series allows full front suspension travel thanks to our from-the-ground-up design emphasis That same dedicated design provides greater clearance from the engine oil pan to the front axle bowl than competitive models and conversions. That means a smoother ride and less strain on major components over time. This combined with an air-ride drivers seat, delivers maximum comfort.

EXCELLENT VISIBILITY

Safety and productivity are enhanced with a reverse-slope windshield, top-mounted windshield wipers, and optional side-window wipers. All dramatically reduce snow and ice build up, and help prevent wiper damage. Plus, a short hood means superior visibility from the drivers seat.

PROVEN CAB MOUNTING SYSTEM

We use a three-point system of attaching the cab to the vehicle with rubber mount cushions, so shocks, vibrations, and torsional strains from roads are absorbed without transferring them to the cab.

SUPERIOR ENGINE-COOLING SYSTEM

Our heavy-duty fin-and-tube-type radiator has a full 1,000 square inches of cooling area. Its steel frame and tanks are bolted to a copper core for superior strength and longevity. Mounted above the frames rails, the radiator location allows room for easy installation of a crankshaft-PTO. Engine access and equipment mounting are a cinch, thanks to cutaway fenders and butterfly hood. Daily oil checks can be done from the ground through a small hatch in the hood.
